Day 01 – Flight to Bale Mountains

On arrival at Goba Airport, you will be picked up by our team and driven to Dinsho town, where the park headquarters is located. From Dinsho, drive 12 km to Sodota and begin your hike through the spectacular scenery of the Web Valley towards the Fincha Habera Waterfall, where the Web and Wolla rivers meet.

In this area, you will have your first chance to spot the endemic Ethiopian Wolf, as well as raptors, rock hyrax, and endemic birds such as the Blue-winged Goose. This experience will leave you excited and in awe of the true wilderness of the Bale Mountains.

Day 02 – Drive to Sanetti Plateau & Harenna Forest

In the morning, drive to the Sanetti Plateau through Robe and Goba. Upon arrival, begin hiking on the plateau, home to the most endangered canid in the world — the Ethiopian Wolf — often seen hunting in its natural habitat.

The Sanetti Plateau is one of the best places in Ethiopia to see this elegant animal. The area is rich in wildlife, including the Giant Mole Rat found only in the Bale Mountains. Look to the sky for soaring birds of prey such as the Golden Eagle, Tawny Eagle, Verreaux’s Eagle, and the Bearded Vulture.

Continue driving to the Harenna Forest, the second tropical rainforest in Ethiopia. Enjoy a 3-hour hike (round trip) to the Harenna Forest Shawe Waterfall.

Drive back to Robe Town for overnight stay.

Day 03 – Gesse Grasslands, Woodlands & Web River Falls

After breakfast, drive 30 km to the northern section of Bale Mountains National Park — the Gesse area.

This region is one of the best places to view Menelik’s Bushbuck and the endemic Mountain Nyala, often seen in herds of up to 50. The area is also home to Bohor Reedbuck, the only true grazer in the park, as well as warthogs, baboons, and many bird species.

Web & Denka Rivers Hike

Wrap up your adventure with a scenic hike around the Web River waterfalls and the confluence of the Web and Denka Rivers.

In the afternoon, transfer back to Bale Robe Airport for your departure.
